Programme Officer

Our client, a local government organisation, is currently recruiting for a programme officer based close to the centre of London. The purpose of the role is to run a service wide review of the organisation along side the programme manager.

The key responsibilities of the Programme Officer would be:
? Provide support to allocated projects and initiatives across the various work streams comprising the service improvement programme to raise the quality of council services and achieve ?excellent authority?' status. This will include the four-year rolling programme of twelve annual service improvement reviews, existing service transformation projects, change programmes and other related task groups and initiatives.
? Accountable for driving progress in developing and delivering projects to meet agreed milestones and outputs within cost constraints, and reporting on progress, risk and variances against project plans.
? Work collaboratively with senior managers who are leading and sponsoring aspects of the Service Improvement Programme to ensure that desired outcomes are delivered.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of undertaking a service review. They should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written and be able to really drill down into the service area they are reviewing. At the same time, they must have a strategic overview of the whole Improvement and Efficiency Strategy, that we are trying to deliver and they must certainly understand the politics involved in working within sensitive areas in local government.
