Origin Care |
Get a job where you get real job satisfaction, where what you do makes a difference to someone’s life and where you can forget about boring 9-5 routines. If it sounds too good to be true, read what one live-in carer says about the job.
‘This job is not your average 9-5 job, the week off every 2-3 weeks and the chance to save money particularly appeals to me, I thoroughly enjoy it. If you are patient, open minded and helpful this type of work will suit you. I have learned a lot about myself and become aware of certain abilities and skills. I have also realised that attitude counts for a lot. With a bit of determination it is amazing what people can achieve.
The more you put into this job the more you will definitely get out of it.’ Eilidh
THE JOB
Live-in carer often called a PA or Personal Assistant, for someone, who because of a spinal injury, often caused by a road or sporting accident, uses a wheelchair. By supporting them in day to day activities such as driving, cooking, dressing and shopping you will be enabling them to live independently in their own home. Working on a one to one basis with one of Origin’s clients is both rewarding and interesting. All Origin clients are adults; many have full time jobs and/or are keen sportsmen/women.
Origin can offer:
• Starting salary of £490 per week
• Long stay cash bonuses
• Free accommodation and food whilst working
• Free, specialist skills training
• Great 24/7 support from everyone at Origin

ORIGIN
We provide specialist one to one live-in care services, exclusively for people with a spinal injury. Unique in its experience - owned and run by Peter Henry (who has a spinal injury himself) and Linda Adamsen (who originally came to England from Denmark to work as a Personal Assistant) Origin was founded on the concept that such direct personal experience and understanding will ensure clients and PA's with services second to none. That is why you will find that clients and Personal Care Assistants alike speak so highly of Origin.
CLIENTS
All clients are different but typically similar to Janet, who lives in a suburb of North London.
‘Because Origin’s training course is so good, all my PAs have been absolutely fantastic which helps make my life so much easier and less stressful. Because I work in a local hospital and do some voluntary work for a small local charity, some days my life can be a bit hectic so I need a PA who can cope with that and take responsibility for not only getting me to where I need to be...appropriately dressed... but also make sure that shopping, laundry, household chores are done. However on the days I’m not working, I am quite happy to take things at a much slower pace – I love listening to any kind of music and a simple sandwich and glass of wine whilst sat on my sunny patio with a book or a couple of magazines is my perfect afternoon. I prefer my PA to be quite chatty, a safe driver (!!!) a reasonable cook (so we don’t both starve!) and happy to ‘go with the flow’! That way we both get things done and can enjoy living in the same flat. (You have your own bedroom with ensuite shower room).
To apply it is essential that you:
