The Board of Trustees of Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy
seeks candidates for the position of President. The Conservancy is
a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in Louisville, Kentucky
in 1989 in order to preserve, restore and enhance the unique value
and integrity of Louisville Metro's Frederick Law Olmsted-designed
Parks and Parkways and to extend that legacy to all 100-plus public
parks throughout the Louisville area. Louisville is proud home to
eighteen Olmsted parks and fifteen miles of Olmsted parkways that
provide an escape from the city, within the city. The Conservancy's
mission is to restore, enhance and forever protect these treasured
parks and parkways, connecting nature and neighborhood while
strengthening our community's wellbeing. The Conservancy has a
staff of 12 employees, an annual operating budget of $600,000 and
over the next three years will invest $4 million in the city's
Olmsted Parks. Since 1989, the Conservancy has raised more than $31
million toward improvements, restoration and maintenance of
Louisville's Olmsted parks and parkways. The Conservancy works
closely with Louisville Parks and Recreation Department, which
together form a public-private focused on achieving the common goal
of advancing Olmsted principles and improving the user experience
in the Olmsted system,
The President reports to a Board of volunteer Trustees and is
responsible for supervision of the staff, execution of the
strategic and master plans, and oversight of the operating and
capital programs. The President will be a committed executive with
experience managing a staff, setting goals and assuring
accountability for results who can also provide passion, vision,
accountability and relationship building with stakeholders and
partners in public/government and private sectors. The President
will be: a mentor for staff; a persuasive communicator, engaging
advocate for public parks; and an enthusiastic fundraiser. The
President will take the lead to implement the goals and objectives
adopted by the board in its recently approved strategic plan;
helped to plan,. The successful candidate must have at least a
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. The Conservancy is an Equal
